US Training Overview

The oil and gas industry demands exacting standards of lifting expertise and safety awareness in offshore personnel. To ensure you or your employees have the skills your lifting operations require we have established three Sparrows training centers in the USA at Houma, Broussard and Robert, Louisiana.

Sparrows’ (formerly Energy Cranes) US training department is based in Houma, Louisiana where our new classrooms and hydraulic pedestal training crane, among other various equipment provide an ideal environment for learning. Our unique training program follows the guidelines of the API Training Provider Certification Program.  The training schedule is flexible to meet your needs and we are continually expanding to meet the demands of the industry.

Sparrows has entered into a working agreement with NSL America to provide training in Broussard, Louisiana where we installed a 50ft hydraulic box boom crane for training purposes.  This location offers convenience for the oilfield and construction industry in West Louisiana and Texas as well as surrounding areas. In partnership with NSL America, a “crane specific” fall protection course was developed to ensure that workers are getting the proper techniques of fall protection when working on cranes.

Sparrows, in conjuction with the Shell Robert Training and Conference Center, offers Shell approved courses.  The training center at Robert, Louisiana, forms part of the established Shell Robert Training and Conference Center, where Sparrows has installed a teaching crane and provides specialist instructors covering lifting disciplines. The training facility boasts 22 multipurpose classrooms, with onsite residential accommodations and leisure facilities.

Our instructors deliver training & competence assessment services for crane operators (onshore & offshore, pedestal, gantry & knuckleboom cranes), crane maintainers, hydraulics maintainers, riggers, personnel transfer.  Our crane operator and rigger courses are API TPCP accredited and our Qualified Inspector course is a five day course that follows the API TPCP Supplemental qualifications.  Courses can be tailored to company specifics.
