API success for Northwinds facility
22/02/2010
Houston Northwinds facility successfully complete API audit for extension of certification scope.
Sparrows Manufacturing and Sparrows Engineering & Operations at our Houston Northwinds facility were audited in early February for 3 days by the API auditor and he has recommended the organization for renewal of our API-2C Monogram licence for offshore pedestal crane production and for an extension to scope under API Q1/ISO 29001/ISO 9001 for the Engineering & Operations group located at the same site. This extension covers our specialist engineering services and international parts sales.
The auditor unusually held a closing meeting for all 70 employees and commended them all for their commitment to product and service quality and for their efforts to continuously improve the management system.
Sathish Rajendran as Quality Engineer was the focal point for the audit and has put in tremendous efforts over the past 8 months to meet API’s exacting requirements that included a formal gap analyses of both the API Q1 and API 2C standards against our business processes to ensure we had fully addressed all aspects of both standards. Improved controls such as
- an extensive quality program in MS Project to manage all quality management activities
- Detailed tracking of training in QMS processes for all employees
- Focussed control of Critical and High Risk Approved Vendors and
- Improved Project and Parts Sales deliverable controls and verification
were viewed by the auditor as significant improvements to our processes and enabled him to shorten the audit by half a day with API’s approval.
