That is Sparrows’ commitment to HSEQ. We achieve this through a simple formula:

Systems + Culture = Performance

In the UK, Sparrows operates to the recognised ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards and complies with all legislation and guidance on best practice issued by the HSE and OSHA. While in the USA we work to API Q1 and API TPCP standards and comply with legislation and guidance on best practice issued by MMS.

In other countries, and in project environments where these standards cannot always be formally audited and accredited, we nonetheless work to these same principles, apply the same standards as a minimum, modified as required to comply with local or client-specific standards and policies.

Compliance is a minimum – but Sparrows always aims higher.

Sparrows has developed a culture on safety and quality which is led from the very top, cascaded through every level of management, reinforced by supervisors and recognised and rewarded in the performance of individuals. Only those who demonstrate personal commitment to safety and quality will progress in their careers with us.

Communication is a key part of this culture. Offshore employees take part in regular safety away days and incident-free operations sessions onshore. Within this framework, we reinforce messages about the importance of planning and communication within teams to build safety into the job, and on the duty and authority that every one of our employees has to intervene and, if necessary, stop the job where they perceive risk to be unacceptable.

It is a Just Culture within which individuals at every level are challenged to take responsibility for safety and quality in a way which reflects their experience and seniority.
